This week in GTM: Salesforce hired an SDR that asks permission, a four-month-old assistant became a unicorn, and a 63-year-old closed with the same number three days in a row.
THE DRIVE: The SDR Who Waits for the Nod
Salesforce introduced Hunter this week at Dreamforce, an outbound agent inside Sales Cloud. You tell it the goal. It finds the accounts, drafts the note, updates the opportunity, and then stops. If the next step is a judgment call, it shows the reasoning and asks the rep to approve it first.
ZoomInfo, Demandbase, and Apollo are the flagship data partners. That is a long way of saying the new hire still needs a yardage book.
“Every AI sales agent runs into the same limit: it can only reason over what’s already in the CRM.” — Dennis Sevilla, ZoomInfo
THE FAIRWAY: Sixty-Nine. Three Times. Still Won.
Vijay Singh won the SAS Championship on Sunday, his first title since 2023. He is 63. He shot 69, 69, and 69, finished 9 under at Prestonwood, and beat Ernie Els by two. Four birdies in a six-hole stretch put him in front. Then he closed with six straight pars while Tim O’Neal, one back, found a creek on 17.
“This was a big one. It’s been a tough year, all year, and then I didn’t know how I was going to play this morning. My back doesn’t do very well in cold. I didn’t hit my irons as good as I wanted to, but I got the job done.” — Vijay Singh
That is not a hot streak. That is a rep who stopped inventing a new swing on Sunday.
THE GREEN: Hole-in-One Award, the Assistant With Friends
Town raised $108 million on Monday at a $1 billion valuation, four months after it launched in public. Forerunner and Menlo co-led. Every employee gets a Townie. The Townies ask each other questions, hand off the work, and share only what their person would share. Paying customers are up 4x since July. Paying teams are up 9x. They hit seven figures of ARR in weeks.
This week’s Hole-in-One Award goes to the company that built a foursome before it built another solo dashboard.
FROM THE CLUBHOUSE: QuickBooks Bought the Scorecard
On October 15, Intuit agreed to buy Sequence. Terms were not disclosed. Sequence turns a signed deal into pricing, billing, collections, and revenue recognition, including the messy ones: usage, seats, milestones. Your AE can close a hybrid deal on Thursday. Finance still has to turn that handshake into money the company is allowed to count.
Intuit just bought the walk from the 18th green back to the clubhouse. Riya Grover and the team join the mid-market group.
THE CADDIE’S CORNER: R9, First Tee, No Excuse
This week’s clip is not a cart in a pond. It is Ronaldo, the 2002 one, stepping onto the first tee at Delhi Golf Club for the DP World India Championship pro-am. Sky Sports has the swing. He stripes it. Rude. The rest of us would have topped it with a World Cup winner watching.
19TH HOLE INSIGHT
A forecast is a mulligan you give yourself in public. The scorecard does not care what you meant to shoot. Write the number down before you tee off. Everything after that is just golf.
